Projects / studies / research job applications to LASEC
Application for PhD
- We are hiring every year.
- Go to https://go.epfl.ch/edic and apply from there.
- All PhD candidate positions are funded.
- We do not respond to requests for pre-screening; just apply before the deadline.
Application for a research scholarship
- It is rare that we take any.
- If you are not an admitted EPFL student, don't apply.
- If you are, and if you are qualified, you already received instructions.
Application for Summer internship
- We did not take any in the last few years but we used to.
- Go to https://summer.epfl.ch and apply from there.
- A Summer internship is always funded.
Application for another type of internship by a non-EPFL student
- It is extremely rare that we take any.
- Apply at least 4 months in advance by providing complete information (we don't answer to any incomplete request - just figure out what complete should mean; if you don't know, get a proper training from your place).
Application for a semester/master project at LASEC by an EPFL or ETH-cybersecurity student
Application for a master project in industry by an EPFL student
- If not related to cryptography/security/privacy, go to another lab.
- If there is a confidentiality requirement, go to another lab.
- Otherwise, contact Serge with enough information about the company, the supervisor, the subject, your MSc program. (Clearly say that you are in this case to avoid your application to be treated like spam).
Application for a postdoc position
- Openings depend on funding.
- Apply to job_lasec@epfl.ch with a complete application (we don't answer to any incomplete request - just figure out what complete should mean; if you don't know, you are not qualified for this job).
- Make clear you are aware of our research (please spare us with the usual AI-generated crap; we don't read it any more), explain yours, and your plans.
Support letter requests
Request for support letter by our former students
- Explain what you need your letter for and what entitles you to get our support.
- We are always happy to support our former students but keep what follows in mind.
- If you were just one student out of N in one class, it is unlikely we can write any letter which will serve you well, no matter how well you did in the class. Asking us for a letter may be counterproductive.
- If you have got with us any insufficient performance, be aware we cannot hide it in our letter. Depending on your case, it may not serve you well. Asking us for a letter may be counterproductive.
- Request early enough; we always do treat requests diligently but we cannot always treat your request in emergency.
Request to support an application for Federal subsidies to study at EPFL
- You should apply to the administrator of your curriculum, no matter what you understood from the federal documents.
Request to support an application for CYD fellowship
- If your project does not fit our research, go to another lab.
- If it really fits, contact Serge.
- Be aware it does not make sense that we support too many applicants.
